Cambridge police are investigating a reported sexual assault that took place early Tuesday.ย 

The victim told officers that at approximately 12:20 a.m. she was talking with three people on the 200 block of Franklin Street in Cambridgeport โ€“ and does not recall what happened next. The victim, who is adult and unhoused, called in police at 3:14 a.m.ย 

The victim said she woke up in a parking lot in Central Square โ€œhaving been assaulted,โ€ police said. She was taken to a hospital.

The department has assigned additional patrols to the area as a precaution, spokesperson Robert Goulston said.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call (617) 349-3300 or make contact anonymously. Residents should callย 911ย immediately if they ever feel threatened or observe any suspicious activity.

  1. Still no CCTV cameras. What more has to happen before this City Council gets the message that
    cameras help solve crimes.

    What is the problem? Privacy? Solving crimes and preventing crimes are paramount.

    Last week this city had a fatal bicycle fatality. If there had been CCTV cameras at DeWolfe and Mount Auburn, the police might have seen what
    happened.
