With 25 locations opened around the Boston area since 2008, Tatte is known by everyone. I tend to be skeptical of chains with such rapid expansion, but Tatte has retained its quality on a lengthy menu, just about all of which is delicious. The sandwiches and other plates are certainly worth trying, but it has an exceptionally solid pastry selection. The morning bun was sugary, airy and satisfying. The layers of croissant dough were buttery and flaky, and the sugar between them added a light sweetness without reaching dessert territory – it deserves its “morning bun” name. The sugar on the bottom of the bun caramelized into a jammy consistency, making for an enjoyably chewy last couple of bites. It’s light and works as well as a morning coffee complement as it does a stand-alone afternoon treat. It can even be the prequel to the rest of your meal. We won’t judge.
