Recount to settle state rep race

State primary recount, 9 a.m. Thursday. The Evan MacKay campaign, 41 votes behind incumbent 25th Middlesex District state Rep. Marjorie Decker from a Sept. 3 primary, gets a recount starting at the Russell Youth Center, 680 Huron Ave., Strawberry Hill.

Fund for mixed-income housing

Cambridge Redevelopment Authority, 5:30 p.m. Thursday. Board members close in on approving a $10 million Housing Capital Fund for investments in building mixed-income home projects and authorizing their executive director to distribute a request for proposals to developers. The authority meets in the Pioneer Room at Google Kendall Square, 355 Main St., Kendall Square, and watchable by Zoom videoconferencing.

Central Square rezoning

Central Square rezoning community meeting, 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. The final of three meetings to discuss potential zoning updates. A Community Development Department team leads residents through issues of expanding boundaries of whatโ€™s considered โ€œCentral Squareโ€ and where proposed rules will apply, dimensional standards such as height limits and โ€œincentivized uses,โ€ meaning encouraging uses such as housing and cultural spaces. Collecting traffic data

City Council, 5:30 p.m. Monday. The agenda of this meeting wasnโ€™t available at press time save for one technological item that must be discussed under the cityโ€™s antisurveillance law: setting up devices that watch and keep track of vehicle traffic for use by the city when such things as โ€œroad volume counts and travel timesโ€ are needed, according to a staff memo. The council meets at City Hall, 795 Massachusetts Ave., Central Square. Televised and watchable by Zoom videoconferencing.


Park renovations and new art

Rafferty Park virtual open house, noon to 1 p.m., and artist meeting, 3 to 6 p.m. Sept. 19. The city is renovating Rafferty Park, 68 Griswold St., Cambridge Highlands, behind the Sancta Maria nursing home at 799 Concord Ave., and will show and talk about the plans at noon on Zoom (get in using the password โ€œRaffertyโ€). Later in the day, nature-inspired sculptor Thomas Berger of Kittery, Maine, will talk about his plans for the parkโ€™s public art.

Filling a City Council vacancy

Election Commission, 5 p.m. Sept. 19. The commission will rerun the numbers from the Nov. 7 municipal election to determine officially who will replace city councillor Joan Pickett, who died Aug. 30. A rerun of the November election in January using the same software that the city uses showed Cathie Zusy taking the seat. At City Hall Annex, 344 Broadway, Mid-Cambridge.
