Ideas to build more housing
Neighborhood & Long Term Planning, Public Facilities, Arts & Celebration Committee, 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday. This committee run by city councillors Catherine Zusy and Jivan Sobrinho-Wheeler bring in urban planning experts from MIT and Harvard to share best practices for inspiring housing production. No public comment will be taken. The committee meets at City Hall, 795 Massachusetts Ave., Central Square. Televised and watchable by Zoom videoconferencing.
Closed-door grievance session
Special meeting of the School Committee, 4 p.m. Wednesday. The committee comes together to vote publicly just on whether to go into closed-door discussion of two unstated grievances among the teachersโ and administratorsโ units of the Cambridge Education Association. The committee is involved in these โLevel IIIโ grievances because they werenโt resolved at Level I (in which the union tries to settle things with the immediate superior) or Level II (in which the superintendent of schools works to address the conflict). Watchable online.
Multifamily zoning discussed
Ordinance Committee, 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. This committee run by vice mayor Marc McGovern and city councillor Paul Toner gets two multifamily zoning petitions back from the full City Council for discussions as amended: focused on four stories as a base for citywide home construction, a reduction from the initial proposal of six stories. After committee discussions set to continue Jan. 16, the zoning is expected back before the full council for a final vote in February. The committee meets at City Hall, 795 Massachusetts Ave., Central Square. Televised and watchable by Zoom videoconferencing.
Looking ahead
City Council and School Committee roundtable, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Jan. 13. The bodies come together to assess the success of a universal prekindergarten program rollout. The working meeting is set to be held at City Hall, 795 Massachusetts Ave., Central Square. Televised and watchable by Zoom videoconferencing.
Combined Sewer Overflow control planning update, 6 to 7 p.m. Jan. 22. Heavy rainfall can still cause sewer systems to overflow and pollute our rivers, but Cambridge, Somerville and the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority are working on plans for sewer improvements that will reduce the pollution. Plans will be discussed via Zoom videoconferencing.

A small suggestion: maybe post these on Thursday evening or Friday morning? And then you can also include the Monday council agenda.
