Mixed developments and lab space
Planning Board, 6 p.m. Thursday. The board hears from DiCamillo Associates on plans to build 30 apartments, including six affordable units, atop Lyndell’s Bakery, an iconic establishment at 720 Broadway, Ball Square.
Greystar, a global real estate company, asks a special permit for a 1.3 million-square-foot lab, office, hospitality and park development at 20-23 Cummings St., Assembly Square. Greystar – also putting up a 16-story lab building a few blocks away at 74 Middlesex Ave. – says this project would go on the site of the La Quinta hotel and 99 restaurant.
The board also hears a site approval application for a mixed-use, four-story development with three residential units and commercial art gallery at 53 Chester St., Davis Square, next door to Redbones Barbecue. The current structure, built in 1920, is a two-family house. Watchable via videoconferencing.
Winter and Brown schools update
School Committee school building facilities and maintenance committee, 6 p.m. Thursday. Capping off a week of meetings, the committee shares an update to the possible creation of a public school to replace two current buildings – the Winter Hill and Brown schools – that have failing facilities. Although a community working group has been weighing the alternative option of renovation, members were angered when the Mayor’s Office released a survey Jan. 23 some considered biased. Though the project is moving through Massachusetts’ funding process, in December the working group learned a building likely wouldn’t be completed for another six years. Pot store near Assembly Square
Community Outreach Meeting, 6 p.m. Monday. Adding to Somerville’s growing collection of potential dispensaries, representatives of Haze of Somerville invite neighbors near Assembly Square to a community outreach meeting for questions. A related shop, Simplicity Dispensary, operates out of North Grafton. Watchable via videoconferencing.
Accessibility-focused projects
Commission for Persons with Disabilities, 7 p.m. Tuesday. The commission meets to review project progress and discuss plans for May Mental Health Month. The group, led by four commissioners, aims to expand accessibility across the city and maintains projects on legislative matters, parking and education. In Room 203M of the Tufts Administrative Building, 167 Holland St., in the Tufts neighborhood near Teele Square and watchable via videoconferencing.
