The Daily Provisions storefront at 1 Brattle Square, in Cambridge’s Harvard Square.

A branch of the Daily Provisions quick-service restaurant out of New York is preparing to open in Cambridge’s Harvard Square with an all-day menu, from breakfast sandwiches and avocado toast to sandwiches, salads, entrees such as roast chicken and seared salmon and pastries. (The crullers are sometimes cited as the chain’s reason for being.) As part of the “Provisions” conceit, it sells meals, sides and bottles of sauces and dressings to go.

Food site The Infatuation described Daily Provisions as “an order at the counter and possibly eat while standing up kind of place,” and adds that branches are designed as

a well-oiled machine that manages to feel mysteriously calm at all times, and you can tell they’ve put a lot of thought into the details. The people running the cashless register keep the line moving quickly, and you don’t have to awkwardly figure out how to tip because it’s already included in the prices. If you’re staying to eat there, they’ll bring your food on real plates, and you’re taking it to go, they’ll package it nicely.

The first Daily Provisions outside of New York and New Jersey is coming to 1 Brattle Square, with an opening date unknown. A request for information sent April 24 to the parent company, Union Square Hospitality Group, went unanswered, but Harvard Square Business Association executive director Denise Jillson said an opening was expected from mid- to end of July.
