Disability pride flag raising

City of Somerville, 5 p.m. Thursday. The city raises the disability pride flag outside City Hall, with families encouraged to help hoist it together. The flag colors developed by Ann Magill symbolizes folks with disabilities โ€œwho have died due to ableism, violence, negligence, suicide, rebellion, illness and eugenics,โ€ and its five stripes suggest different disabilities. City councilors, the mayor and members of the racial and social justice department and office of strategic planning and community development attend. This event was rescheduled from July 10 due to weather. In-person at City Hall Concourse, 93 Highland Ave., Central Hill.


Historic cemetery open to visit

Somerville Museum, 10 a.m. to noon Saturday. The museum hosts its bimonthly โ€œHistory Unlockedโ€ drop-in chats, which offer a chance to visit historic sites that are normally closed off such as Prospect Hill Tower and the Powderhouse. This Saturday, the Milk Row Cemetery is open and a docent is present to answer questions. This program is part of History on the Line, a series of exhibitions, maps, public events and trolley tours that follow โ€œmap lines, assembly lines, revolutionary lines, story lines, transportation lines and more.โ€ The museum gets funding from Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism’s MA250 grant program. Davis council nominations

Davis Square Neighborhood Council, 6 p.m. Monday. At its monthly meeting, the council focuses on board elections coming Aug. 23-25, with a committee presenting a list of nominees and accepting floor nominations from attendees. There will also be updates about the Copper Mill development for apartments above The Burren restaurant and other businesses and the Elmway, a concept to further pedestrianize Elm Street in the square. The group is still forming, compared with an established neighborhood council in Union Square, with the goal of giving โ€œDavis Square residents, business owners and workers a guaranteed seat at the table when private developers want to reshape Davis Square.โ€ In-person at the Somerville Community Baptist Church, 31 College Ave., or watchable via videoconferencing.


Allegations against restaurant

Licensing Commission, 6 p.m. Tuesday. The commission hosts a special show-cause hearing to consider whether licenses should be โ€œmodified, suspended, revoked or forfeitedโ€ or the hours for alcoholic beverages reduced at Gauchao Brazilian Cuisine, 102 Broadway, East Somerville, including its all-forms alcohol license and outdoor seating. This one-item agenda follows up on alleged violations raised during a July 15 meeting. The police have responded to 62 calls since new owners took over in January. โ€œThe issue is not just for noise. Calls for fights, calls for disorderly [conduct] and most concerning, that one incident where a shot was firedโ€ in April, police lieutenant Diogo DeOliveira said. Watchable via videoconferencing.

How to use library e-book app

Public Library, Tuesday 7 to 8:30 p.m. The head of adult services shows how to use apps for e-books and digital audiobooks. Folks are encouraged to bring their own devices to โ€œLearn About Libby (and OverDrive)โ€ event. In the auditorium of the Public Library at 79 Highland Ave., Central Hill.
