Nicholas Stubblefield brings capitalist critique to Somerville’s Rockwell on Friday with Mike Daniels.

Can hatred of corporations and capitalism serve as the foundation for a comedy show? “Nearly every material component of our lives, no matter how basic, stupid or seemingly harmless, is wrapped up in some very real corporate plot to kill us all, and that’s hilarious,” Mike Daniels notes. He and Nicholas Stubblefield – ask him his thoughts on Boeing – are staging an hour to argue the point. In “Buy Buy Buy” (there’s more to the title, but I only have so much space), they’ve crafted material that skewers billionaire culture, the looming threat of AI and the confounding dominance of cryptocurrency, aiming to point out the evils of these constructs while acknowledging the degree to which they’ve become essential. “Guess which online marketplace we bought 90 percent of our props from,” Daniels says. With “Buy Buy Buy” audiences can explore the absurdities of our capitalist-steeped circumstances and head back into that world with some perspective and (potentially) minimized guilt.

“68-Minute Joke Concussion Doge Coin Buy Buy Buy” at 7 p.m. Friday at The Rockwell, 255 Elm St., Davis Square, Somerville. $15 to $20.
