Emily Anne Wintner leads the CRLS girls’ soccer team with nine goals this season.

At the Bay State Invitational in Wrentham on Saturday, the Cambridge Rindge and Latin School boys’ cross-country team won the “B” race with 38 points, finishing ahead of Catholic Memorial (53 points) and Newton North (96 points). The teams in the “A,” “B” and “C” races weren’t sorted by ability, but were chosen randomly. Cambridge’s top runners were Leon Ibanez Fraile (first place, 15:29), Thomas Dewitt (third place, 15:55), Liam Eldridge (fifth place, 15:56), Kieran Eichler (sixth place, 16:03) and Henry Parker (24th place, 17:08).

On Thursday, the Falcons lost their meet to Newton South, 24-33.

Girls’ cross-country: The CRLS girls’ cross-country team finished third in the “A” race at the Bay State Invitational with 77 points, behind Westwood (50 points) and Amherst-Pelham (59 points). Cambridge’s top runners were Sophia Juanes Seto (first place, 18:10), Violet Smith (seventh place, 19:54), Fiona Litman (13th place, 20:24), Lauren Sebesta (33rd place, 21:33) and Neelu Trivedi (37th place, 21:59).

On Thursday, they lost their meet to Newton South, 25-36.

Boys’ soccer: The boys’ soccer team (4-2-1) defeated Brookline, 3-1, on Thursday behind goals from Giacomo Cotta-Ramusino Zambotti, Bona Alemu and captain Michael Brown (his third goal of the season). Assists came from Andre Baraglia and Emmanuel Alemu. On Saturday, the Falcons lost 1-0 to Newton South, which is ranked fourth in Eastern Massachusetts by The Boston Globe. Senior center back Angel Nunez, who is playing some of the best soccer of his career, offered tremendous defense for CRLS.

Girls’ soccer: On Saturday, the girls’ soccer team (5-3-1) played Weston to a scoreless draw. Both teams nearly scored on shots that hit the post, but neither could put the ball in the net. The Falcons lost to Newton South, 4-1, on Monday. Cece Lubetsky scored the lone goal for CRLS on an assist from Malena Averez Saavedra.

In other action, the football team (2-2) lost to Burlington, 36-2, but improved to 18th in the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association Division 2 power rankings. Teams ranked in the top 16 advance to the postseason tournament. The girls’ volleyball team lost matches to Somerville and Newton South by scores of 3-0.
