Freshmen Jai’Lyse Gomes-Keel (top) and Jaida Hope have made a big impact for the CRLS girls’ basketball team this season.

The girls’ basketball team bounced back from a loss to Andover on December 16 to beat Boston Latin on Friday and Weymouth on Monday.

In a 70-48 loss to Andover, freshman guards Jai’Lyse Gomes-Keel and Jaida Hope led CRLS scorers with 13 and 9 points, respectively. In a 34-29 defeat of Boston Latin, Gomes-Keel led with 10 points, and Christina Louverture — also a freshman — had eight points and grabbed 10 rebounds. The Falcons defeated Weymouth, 50-47, withstanding a late 12-0 Weymouth run to hold on for the win. Senior Nada Elfathy led with 17 points, and Sophomore Avie Marshall scored 15 points. 

Girls’ track: The girls’ track team participated in the second Dual County League meet of the season on December 16 and defeated Concord-Carlisle, 49-46. The meet also featured Acton-Boxborough, Newton South, Lincoln-Sudbury, and Westford Academy. The victory was paced by first-place finishes for Sophia Juanes Seto in the mile with a time of 5:13.76 and by the 4×400 relay team of Neva Hartman, Naomi Baldwin, Fiona Litman, and Seto in 4:19.95. In the 600-meter run, Leah Hogan finished second (1:49.91). Baldwin took second in the 300-meter dash (43.67). Several Falcons placed third in their races: Hartman in the 1,000-meter run (3:07.10), Neelu Trivedi in the 2-mile run (13:03.40), and Corrine Augustine in the 55-meter hurdles (10.27).

Boys’ track: At the same Dual County League meet the boys’ track team edged Concord-Carlisle, 51-49. The top CRLS runners in the one-mile run were Liam Eldridge (2nd place, 4:39.79) and Thomas Dewitt (3rd place, 4:39.89). In the 1,000-meter run, Leon Ibanez-Fraile finished third (2:36.38). In the high jump, Matthew Shokoti finished third with a jump of 5’ 6”. In the long jump, Laurent Valentin finished third with a jump of 18’ 6 1/4”.

Boys’ hockey: The boys’ hockey team tied Dracut on Saturday, 2-2. Matias Moore scored both goals, with assists coming from Joel Perez and Liam Molberger. Goaltender Owen Goldstein had 29 saves, and defenseman Josh Pite contributed with a strong effort.

Girls’ hockey: The girls’ hockey team fell to Shawsheen, 4-0 on December 17 and to Central Catholic, 5-3, on Saturday. Goaltender Max Cowen-Breen had a solid effort against Shasheen, stopping 24 shots. Against Central Catholic, Caroline Rapp, Caitlin Beyer, and Emmy Zinser-Marsh each scored a goal. Forward Olivia Gao assisted on two of the goals, and Cowen-Breen made 35 saves.

In other action, the boys’ basketball team lost to Boston College High School on December 16, 64-58, and Boston Latin, 64-58, on Friday. On Monday, the Falcons bounced back against Lawrence with a 59-52 win. The girls’ swimming team defeated Waltham on Monday, 81-68. The boys’ swimming team defeated Waltham, 80-37.
