The Cambridge Rindge and Latin baseball team (15-2) extended its winning streak to eight games last week with a 9-7 defeat of St. John’s Prep on May 12, a 5-0 defeat of Bedford on May 13, and a 3-1 defeat of Boston Latin Academy on Monday. The Falcons are ranked ninth in the MIAA Division I Power Rankings.
Against St. John’s, the team scored all nine runs with two outs in the second inning. Hugo Davis led the offense with two hits and three RBIs, including a bases-clearing double that tied the score at 4-4. Stefan Alexandrov, who went 2-for-4, drove in the go-ahead run with a single, scoring Davis.
Alexandrov pitched a three-hit shutout, striking out eight and walking only one in the defeat of Bedford. He also had two hits and an RBI. The offense was led by Joel Rojas-Cruz, who went 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Davis and Nikko Santos both smacked a double.

In the win over Boston Latin Academy, Oliver Henke pitched six shutout innings, striking out nine and allowing three hits to earn his team-leading fourth win. Henke, Davis, Rojas-Cruz, Alexandrov, Logan Sherwood, and Jasen Thomas each singled. Alexandrov knocked in a run.
Softball: The softball team (7-10) lost to Bedford on May 12, 11-8, and to Acton-Boxborough on Friday, 6-2. Against Bedford, Eleanor Holleran went 3-for-4, and Marin Albrecht went 1-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Bella Wilkins, Isabel Navarro, and Caitlin Beyer each drove in a run. In the loss to Acton-Boxborough, Albrecht hit a home run — her fifth of the season — and drove in both Falcons runs. Bronwyn Johnson went 2-for-2 with a double.
Boys’ track: At Saturday’s MSTCA Coaches Metro Invitational, which featured athletes from nearly 70 schools, Liam Eldridge won the 800-meter run in 1:57.28. Jermaine Houston finished second in the 100-meter dash (11.10) and eighth in the 200-meter dash (23.03). Benjamin Richard finished eighth in the one-mile run (4:30.21), with Gael Berzin ninth (4:31.07). Laurent Valentin finished fourth in the long jump (21-07.25) and ninth in the triple jump (41-02).
Girls’ track: At the MSTCA Coaches Metro Invitational, Naomi Baldwin finished fifth in the 400-meter dash (59.46) and sixth in the 200-meter dash (26.26). Sophia Juanes Seto finished third in the 800-meter run (2:17.09) and Neva Hartman finished third in the one-mile run (5:10.80).
Girls’ lacrosse: The girls’ lacrosse team lost to Westford Academy on May 12 and Bedford on Thursday, both by scores of 19-2, before avenging an earlier loss to Boston Latin Academy by beating it 11-10 on Senior Day. The Falcons lost the final game of the season to Acton-Boxborough on Monday, 19-6, finishing 4-14.
Maude Ullmann, who recorded her 200th career save in the loss to Boston Latin Academy, had 17 saves in the defeat of Boston Latin Academy and the loss to Acton-Boxborough. Emma Kass recorded her 100th career goal in the first game against Boston Latin Academy and added five more in the win. Emily Nolan had a breakout game in the defeat of Boston Latin Academy with two goals and tenacious defending from the midfield position.
Boys’ lacrosse: The boys’ lacrosse team (5-8) lost to Westford on May 12, 17-0, and defeated Bedford on Thursday, 11-6. In the win, Owen Goldstein scored six goals, had one assist, and made ten saves. Eli Postal scored three goals, and Kamai Green added two goals and six ground balls. The defeat of Bedford gave the Falcons three Dual County League wins, among the most in school history.
Boys’ volleyball: The boys’ volleyball team (10-8) lost to Wayland on May 12, 3-1 (25-20, 25-23, 23-25, 25-15), and Newton South on Friday, 3-2 (23-25, 25-23, 25-15, 23-25, 15-10). The Falcons defeated O’Bryant on Monday, 3-1 (27-25, 25-23, 21-25, 25-17). In the loss to Wayland, Brennan Loud had 13 kills, followed by Bruce Toledo with nine. Ethan Malamud contributed 19 digs. Against Newton South, Loud had 17 kills, Will Ochsendorf had 13, and Eric Ohanyan added 11 more. Owen Murphy added 3 aces and 30 assists. In the defeat of O’Bryant, Loud with 22 kills, followed by Hunter Kuo with 11. Toledo recorded six blocks, and Eric Ohanyan added five more.
Girls’ tennis: The girls’ tennis team lost to Bedford, 4-1, on May 13 and to Acton-Boxborough on Friday, 3-2. Against Bedford, the second doubles team of Amelie Ramos and Avery Fearing won their rain-shortened match. After losing the first set, they took the second set and then won the match on a 13-11 tiebreaker. Against Acton-Boxborough, the first doubles team of Ramos and PC Koester won 6-0, 6-4. The second doubles team of Fearing and Liza Itskhoki won 6-4, 6-2. Boys’ tennis: The boys’ tennis team lost to Acton-Boxborough on Friday and to Bedford on Monday, both by scores of 5-0.
