At the USRowing Northeast Regionals in West Windsor, N.J. on May 17, the Cambridge Rindge and Latin girls’ first varsity crew of Laurel Moldrem, Sinead O’Gorman-Jones, Imogen Wu, Isla Agnew and coxswain Ada LaMaster finished third with a time of 7:27.54 at the USRowing Northeast Regionals, the second time in school history girls’ crew advanced to the Youth Nationals (the first came in 2022).
On Saturday May 23, CRLS was one of only three public schools to compete at the New England Interscholastic Rowing Association Championship in the fours school category. The third varsity 4+ crew of Kat Levitt, Nina Penagos-Esquitin, Beatrix Taylor, Jacqueline Long and coxswain Antonia Millan finished second with a time of 6:24.415, behind first-place Choate.
The next day was the Massachusetts Public School Rowing Association State Championship, and the crews dominated. They brought home cups for the girls’ first novice 4+ and first varsity 4+, leading the team to a fifth consecutive Girls Fours Points Trophy. Points were earned for wins in the second novice 4+ and second varsity 4+ and a sweep of first, second and third in the third varsity 4+ race. The novice girls 8+ finished third, and Iris Moyer took home bronze in the single sculls.
Boys’ crew: The boys’ first varsity crew of Nicolas Karnath, Daniel Morland, Zeke Bittker Mateus Verdi and coxswain Son Schneider finished third at the USRowing Northeast Regionals with a time of 6:44.62, putting a CRLS boys boat into Youth Nationals for the first time since 2018 and only the fourth time in school history.
At the New England Interscholastic Rowing Association Championship, the fourth varsity 4+, crew of Ethan Garcia, Peter Giakoumis, Rio Thielow, Roland De Sola and coxswain Akash Walter finished third with a time of 5:35.063, less than 1.3 seconds behind first-place Brooks.

At the Massachusetts Public School Rowing Association State Championship, the boys’ crews placed first in all of their time trials and A Finals. For the first time in school history the boys’ Novice 8+ brought home the cup. The boys’ novice 4+, first varsity 4+, and second varsity 4+ won their events. In the third varsity 4+ event, the fourth varsity crew took first, just ahead of the third varsity. All of the fours contributed to CRLS retaining the Boys Fours Points Trophy for the fifth consecutive year.
Boys’ track: At the Dual County League Championships at Weston High School on May 20, the boys’ track team had 82 points, good for a third-place tie with Weston. Acton-Boxborough (92 points) won the title over Concord-Carlisle (89 points). For CRLS, Kieran Eichler won the two-mile run in 9:47.16, with Thomas Dewitt third (9:54.58). Jermaine Houston finished second in the 100-meter dash (11.14) and fifth in the long jump (19-10). Miel Henry finished second in the 400-meter dash (51.68), and Benjamin Richards third in the one-mile run (4:27.33). The 4×800-meter relay team of Gael Berzin, Declan Lewis, Leon Ibanez-Fraile and Richards placed second with a time of 8:16.08. The 4×100 relay team of Houston, Henry, Laurent Valentin and Matthew Shokoti finished third (43.61).
N’Dee Antoine finished second in the 110-meter hurdles (16.85), second in the high jump (5-6.75) and fifth in the shot put (28-11.5). Valentin finished second in the triple jump (44-0) and third in the long jump (20-7.75). In the triple jump, Shokoti finished third (41-10.25) and Jarehl O’Bannon was fourth (41-5.5).
Girls’ track: The girls’ track team finished eighth at the Dual County League Championships with 45 points. Westford Academy won with 104 points. Naomi Baldwin took second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 59.84 and claimed third in the 400-meter hurdles (1:08.49). Neva Hartman placed second in the 800-meter run (2:22.02), with Vida Nava taking fifth (2:40.23). Sophia Juanes Seto finished second in the one-mile run (5:00.03), and Violet Smith was fifth in the two-mile run (12:30.63). The 4×400-meter relay team of Hartman, Sloan Judson, Leah Hogan and Juanes Seto finished fourth (4:08.86). Nava scored a second in the shot put (27-3.75), and Corinne Augustine finished fourth in the triple jump (33-5.5).
Softball: The softball team (9-10) defeated Malden on May 19, 15-1, and Everett on Friday, 18-4. In the defeat of Malden, Marin Albrecht struck out five of the six batters she faced and drove in a run. Bella Wilkins, Caroline Orr, Araliz Pena, Sofia Summersgill and Claire Lewis also had an RBI apiece. Against Everett, Eleanor Holleran went 4-for-4 with a home run, a triple, and six RBIs. Orr also hit a home run and went 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Albrecht went 3-for-4 with an RBI.
Boys’ lacrosse: The boys’ lacrosse team (5-11) lost to Acton-Boxborough on Wednesday, 19-9, Brookline on Thursday, 9-6, and Haverhill on Saturday, 13-11. Against Acton-Boxborough, Jasper Adiletta had four goals, and Owen Goldstein had two goals, three assists, four saves in goal, and five ground balls. Goldstein had two goals, one assist, and eight saves against Brookline, and Xander Whitters had two goals. Adiletta and Kamai Green had one goal each. Against Haverhill, Jasper Adiletta scored four goals and had an assist, and Goldstein collected three goals, three assists, and 17 saves.
Girls’ tennis: The girls’ tennis team (2-14) capped its regular season with a 4-1 defeat of Malden Catholic on May 20. Niuniu Chen won at third singles in three sets, 6-7 (4-7), 6-3, 7-5. P.C. Koester and Natalia Naef dominated at first doubles 6-0, 6-3, as did Amelie Ramos and Avery Fearing at second doubles 6-1, 6-2. In second singles, Julia Popa was leading 4-2 before her opponent withdrew due to injury.
