
The Cambridge Rindge and Latin School Girls’ Volleyball team (3-9) defeated Arlington on Sept. 30 and Greater Lawrence Technical School on Monday, both by scores of 3-1. Against Arlington, Noah Beyer was the standout with 27 assists and 10 kills. Eliana Su had 19 digs, and Chloe Alterman added 20 assists. In the match against Lawrence Technical School, Beyer had 52 assists and 21 kills, while Su had 27 digs. In a 3-0 loss to Somerville on Friday, Beyer and Su again led the way, and Miriam Jacob contributed 16 assists.
Boys’ soccer: The boys’ soccer team (5-2-1) remained undefeated at home with a 5-1 defeat of Chelmsford on Saturday, rising to 13th in the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association power rankings, the highest ranking in program history. The first two goals were scored by captain Rhys Brown, both assisted by Andre Baraglia. Shiferaw Jida Sesia added another two goals, both times getting an assist from Angel Nunez. Sesia leads the team with five goals on the season. The final goal came from Mathias Asnake, who was called up recently from the junior varsity squad. Ben Richards assisted on the goal. Fresh off injury, Jamilsom Parker Fernandez provided a spark at central midfield.
Girls’ soccer: The girls’ soccer team (5-3-2) played to a 0-0 draw against Swampscott on Friday. Swampscott was on the attack throughout the game, but goalkeeper Fio Eddy kept the game scoreless with many strong saves. Defender Lucia Ochsendorf’s blocked shot on the goal line also helped keep Swampscott off the board. Cambridge had to weather the last 10 minutes of the game a player down due to a red card.
Boys’ cross-country: The boys’ cross-country team defeated Westford, 20-41, taking seven of top nine places Sept. 30. Leon Ibanez Fraile was the top runner for CRLS, finishing second with a time of 16:34 on the 2.93-mile course. He was followed by Thomas Dewitt (third place, 16:35), Liam Eldridge (fourth place, 16:36), Kieran Eichler (fifth place, 16:48) and Edwin Voiland (sixth place, 1:17).
Girls’ cross-country: The girls’ cross-country team lost to Westford, 20-39. Sophia Juanes Soto was the top runner for CRLS, finishing third with a time of 18:06. She was followed by Fiona Litman (fifth place, 19:51), Violet Smith (eighth place, 21:03), Lauren Sebesta (11th place, 21:45) and Nia Raskar (13th place, 22:04).
