The Cambridge Rindge and Latin baseball team continued its stellar season, winning both its games last week to extend its winning streak to five and improve its record to 12-2. On Friday, the Falcons’ Jasen Thomas pitched a complete game shutout to defeat Westford Academy, 3-0. In seven innings of work he gave up six hits, struck out six, and did not walk a batter. The Falcons had only four hits, but they were enough, as Conor Brown drove in a run with a triple, and Stefan Alexandrov and Logan Sherwood each singled in a run. 

Cambridge defeated Weston on Saturday, 3-2, with a walkoff sacrifice fly by Alexandrov. The Falcons tied the game at one in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI single by Oliver Henke. Weston took back the lead with a run in the top of the sixth, but Cambridge answered in the bottom of the inning, when Henry Kelsey scored on an error by the Weston third baseman. Tate Schoenau earned the win with a one-two-three seventh inning. Henke, who is hitting .475 on the season with an OPS of 1.087, went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Josh Silber also had two hits. 

Softball: The softball team (7-8) lost to Newton South on May 5, 7-3, and to Westford Academy, 14-6, on Friday, but defeated Boston Latin on Monday, 11-5. In the loss to Newton South, Marin Albrecht went 2-for-4 with two RBIs while also pitching a complete game, striking out six. Only two of the runs she gave up were earned. Against Westford Academy, Bella Wilkins went 3-for-4 with an RBI, Mariana Jimenez hit 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Eleanor Holleran went 2-for-4 with a double. 

In the defeat of Boston Latin, Wilkins went 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs, and Jimenez also went 3-for-5. Caitlin Beyer was 2-for-3 with an RBI. On the mound, Wilkins pitched six innings and earned the win, striking out five and allowing two earned runs. 

Boys’ track: In a tri-meet with Newton South and Boston Latin on May 5, the boys’ track team defeated Latin, 97-38, but lost to Newton South, 92-53. Jermaine Houston won both the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes with times of 11.22 and 23.14, respectively. Luarent Valentin won the long jump (20-8) and triple jump (40-0.5). N’dee Antoine finished first in the 110-meter hurdles (16.50). In the 4×400-meter relay, the team of Henry Parker, Kieran Eichler, Benjamin Richards and Liam Eldridge took first (3:41.28), defeating Newton South’s A team by 0.2 seconds. 

At the Weston Twilight Invitational on Saturday, Eldridge finished third in the one-mile run (4:23.12) and Eichler finished seventh (4:24.62). Leon Ibanez-Fraile finished ninth in the two-mile run (9:23.54)

Girls’ track: In the tri-meet with Newton South and Boston Latin, the girls’ track team beat Latin, 70-62, but fell to Newton South, 98-43. Sophia Juanes Seto won the two-mile run with a time of 10:46.41, and the 4×400-meter relay team of Naomi Baldwin, Leah Logan, Sloane Judson and Neva Hartman also finished first (4:13.52). Corinne Augustine finished first in the triple jump (32-2). 

At the Weston Twilight Invitational, Juanes Seto finished third in the one-mile run (5:00.53). 

Boys’ lacrosse: The boys’ lacrosse team lost to Waltham on May 5, 8-4, Weston on Thursday, 18-2, and Arlington Catholic on Saturday, 12-4. Against Waltham, Owen Goldstein had 15 saves and three goals, with Jasper Adiletta scoring the other goal. Adiletta and Goldstein scored the goals against Weston, with Goldstein also stopping 11 shots. Against Arlington Catholic, Goldstein made 14 saves and scored a goal. Alexander Whitters scored twice and Quentin Marcher accounted for the final goal. 

Girls’ lacrosse: The girls’ lacrosse team lost to Waltham on May 5, 18-4, Arlington Catholic on Saturday, 13-7, and Boston Latin on Monday, 12-7.

Boys’ volleyball: The boys’ volleyball team split its games, falling to Milford on May 6, 3-0 (25-23, 26-24, 25-21), and defeating Newton North on Friday, 3-1 (27-25, 25-20, 20-25, 25-20). Against Milford, Brennan Loud had 15 kills, and Will Ochsendorf and Bruce Toledo each added nine. In the defeat of Newton North, Loud had 22 kills and 20 digs, Toledo registered 12 kills and 12 digs. Ethan Malamud contributed 17 digs, and Owen Murphy had 49 assists. 
Tennis: The boys’ tennis team lost to Weston on May 5, 5-0, and to Westford Academy on Friday, 5-0. The girls’ tennis team fell to Weston on Tuesday, 5-0, to Westford Academy  on Friday, 5-0, and to Boston Latin Academy on Monday, 3-2.
