The Cambridge Little Baseball League divisions (North, West, East and Central) concluded their 2026 seasons with their annual All-Star tournament at Glacken Field on Huron Ave. In a series of games showcasing the best youth baseball players in the city, North division swept the Major and Minor division championships.
In the Major Division, North advanced to the final after defeating the East team in a tight 5-3 game, highlighted by a grand slam from Emmett Hite. The West team defeated Central 10-0, sparked by a Moses Ellner three-run home run and a combined shutout from Trip Donohoe and Finn Schoenau.
The final, played Sept. 23, featured a tense pitcher’s duel. North’s Kiyan Mehta and West’s Dylan Flynn battled on the mound for six innings. Flynn, who struck out 17 North batters, had a no-hitter going into the sixth inning. But in the top of the sixth, Benji Weaver led off with a single, breaking up the no-hitter. Mehta also got a hit. With runners on second and third. Josh Gale came through with a soft single, driving in the only runs of the game.
Mehta finished with 10 strikeouts and was aided by some key defensive plays from shortstop Josh Hogan in the 2-0 victory.
Minor leagues
In the semi-finals of the Minor division, the North Minor team snuck by East 8-7, led by Henry Fitzgerald, who scored two runs and knocked in two more while also pitching the first four innings of the game. The West Minor team defeated Central 15-3, led by strong pitching performances from Kiran Basu and Jack Ward and three hits from George Sterner.
In the Minors final, played Sept. 16, West jumped out early to a 3-0 lead, but North battled back in the third to tie the game, led by Pete Colannino, who singled in two runs with the bases loaded. North took the lead, 5-4 in the fourth inning on a Bola Latilo triple, followed by an RBI single from Manato Oya. The North team added three more runs in the fifth, again powered by Colannino, this time with a two-run double. Diego Boliver allowed just one run over the final four innings to clinch the 8-4 victory for North.
