Artists including Dave Matthews, Foo Fighters, The Lumineers and Miley Cyrus perform live this weekend from independent venues such as the Apollo Theater and the Troubadour as part of the Save Our Stages Fest – to benefit independent venues such as Club Passim and The Lizard Lounge.

Harvard Square’s Democracy Center is bright spot in the Cambridge music scene as well as a refuge for artists, families, students and organizers. But as other venues rushed to live stream shows during the coronavirus lockdown, the center has gone another direction.

Oompa and Walter Alice Sickert, of Walter Sickert & The Army of Broken Toys, have penned a full-fledged battle cry in “Love Be the Way,” part of a compilation of tracks inspired by “And She Could be Next,” a PBS documentary on rising women of color in politics.

Club Passim, a nonprofit organization and venue in Harvard Square, has been leading the charge on supporting musicians in the time of coronavirus. Beyond quickly launching virtual, livestream shows, it’s committed to helping with funding and donation opportunities.

Live music fans aching for some semblance of pre-Covid normalcy, look no further. The Boston Local Music Festival, which is in its second year, will stream this weekend in a virtual format.
