Swissnex, the Swiss consulate in Cambridge, is cosponsoring a discussion on sustainable transportation, with Swiss transportation experts on hand to testify.

A panel discussion on “Sustainable Transportation: A Challenge for the 21st Century” is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. May 21.

Experts from Switzerland and greater Boston will discuss the Swiss transportation network, local and regional transportation systems — in particular rail — and what green, efficient transportation might look like in Cambridge and the Boston metro region in the coming decades. The event is cosponsored by Swissnex, the Swiss consulate.

Panelists include Eric Cosandey, of the Swiss engineering firm SMA; Amy Cotter, of the Metropolitan Area Planning Council; Peter Furth, of Northeastern University; and William Lyons, of the Volpe Center of U.S. Department of Transportation.

This event is scheduled to take place at the Cambridge Main Library, Room L2, 449 Broadway.
