Yes, it’s sad that summer’s waning, but this September brings its own delights. And by that we mean, well, chocolate.

Taza Chocolate, the celebrated Somerville organic, direct trade, bean-to-bar chocolatier whose wares can be found at some 20 resellers locally, is hosting free weekly pastry tastings. A different area chef contributing their skills each week.

The September Pastry Pop-Ups kick off this Saturday with Brian Mercury of Harvest Restaurant, recent winner of Food & Wine’s “The People’s Best Pastry Chef” competition for the East. Mercury will be at Taza from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. serving up a Taza Cremeux and an Earl Grey Caramel Tart with Raspberry Cream.

“So excited,” Mercury said via Facebook. “Been waiting for this day.”

The pop-ups also offer coffee from the Coffee Trike, a cart powered by barista Alessandro “San” Bellino that travels primarily in Cambridge and Boston with George Howell coffee and milk from the Mapleline farm in Hadley.

After Mercury’s pop-up pastry comes Nicole Rhode, of Flour Bakery, on Sept. 14; Molly Rabideau, of Oleana, and Jessica Porto, of Brown Butter Bakery, on Sept. 21; and Rachel Sundet, of Hungry Mother, and Lauren Kroesser, of Eastern Standard, on Sept. 27. RSVP via Facebook here.

Taza Chocolate is at 561 Windsor St., Somerville. For information, call (617) 284-2232.
