The MBTA green line extension project said March 5 that it was canceling a public meeting once planned from 6:30 to 8 p.m. March 7 at the Somerville High School Auditorium, 81 Highland Ave., Somerville, so GLX Constructors, the contractor for the project, can provide the public with an outlook of construction activities expected in the coming months.

The plan is to lay track and build seven stops into Somerville and Medford, as well as relocate Cambridge’s Lechmere stop into the Cambridge Crossing neighborhood across Monsignor O’Brien Highway from its current location. The light rail extension is expected to benefit 50,000 riders.
