A man was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital on Tuesday afternoon after sustaining potentially life-threatening injuries from multiple stab wounds on Franklin Street, Cambridgeport, near the University Park Commons south of Lafayette Square, police said in 6:16 p.m. email.

An initial report of the incident came in at just 5:18 p.m. after the victim, a man in his 30s, was found by a jogger. The victim’s identity is not being released at this time pending next-of-kin notification.

The area is a known mainly as a home to biomedical companies; the common is an open space that has hosted events from soccer watches to jazz festivals.
