As part of Kong Dog’s shift to Korean street fare as Kong Pocha, the Davis Square shop offers a more in-depth menu with hot appetizers such as fried chicken gizzards and scallion pancakes, plus ramen and rice bowls. I got the steamed vegetable dumplings; Kong Pocha also serves pork and beef iterations available steamed or fried. I found the dumplings to be nicely steamed, with tender skins and well-cooked filling – more glass noodles than vegetables, but that turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Although they were unlike most of the (many) dumplings I’ve had, these had a nice chewiness, and the noodles offered some body. Although not particularly flavorful on their own, the dumplings came with sauces adding the necessary oomph to make this an enjoyable and satisfying snack. Now that its no longer all about Korean corn dogs, Kong Pocha’s expanded menu is worth a try.
