West Broadway open house

West Broadway reconstruction open house, 1 p.m. Saturday. This open house is being hosted by Mayor Katjana Ballantyne and Ward 7 councilor Judy Pineda Neufeld to discuss the proposed design for Broadway between Clarendon Avenue and Alewife Brook Parkway. The city is planning the reconstruction of sidewalks and repaving of Broadway between Clarendon Avenue and Alewife Brook Parkway (Route 16) in West Somerville. This meeting takes place at the West Somerville Neighborhood School, 177 Powder House Blvd.


Tenants and landlords rights

Talk on tenants and landlords rights, 7 p.m. Tuesday. The Somerville Public Library hosts a hybrid conversation for Fair Housing Month with the Somerville Fair Housing Commission about the rights of tenants and landlords. The conversation will focus on best practices for tenant screenings. This meeting takes place at the Somerville Public Library, 79 Highland Ave., Central Hill. Addressing homelessness update

Public Health and Public Safety Committee, 6 p.m. Wednesday. The City Council committee meets to discuss monthly updates on efforts to address homelessness, updates on the enforcement of the Dark Skies Ordinance to limit light pollution and reduces energy consumption, and more. This meeting is watchable by Zoom videoconferencing.


Composting program update

Open Space Environment, and Energy Committee, 6 p.m. Thursday. The City Council committee meetS to discuss plans and timelines for a municipal composting program, issues that are preventing Reavis Field from opening and more. This meeting is watchable by Zoom videoconferencing.

A new Woody’s Liquors

483 Broadway building expansion neighborhood meeting, 6 p.m. Thursday. The plan is to turn a ramshackle, one-story building once housing a laundromat in Magoun Square – and crossing over into Medford – into a modern, two-story for a relocated Woody’s Liquors. John Wood, the owner of the store and 483 Broadway, and the Rise Architecture design team of Nathália Quirino and Tavis Babbitt talk through design concepts, changes since the last meeting and zoning that needs to be presented. Locals will also be able to ask questions. This meeting is watchable by Zoom videoconferencing.

Improvements for cyclists

Pedestrian and Transit Advisory Committee, 6:30 p.m. Thursday. The committee will hear presentations from students in Harvard’s Planning for Pedestrians and Cyclists class, which focuses on planning safe and comfortable infrastructure for cyclists and pedestrians. The students will make recommendations for improvements at three city school sites: the Brown School on Willow Avenue, Winter Hill School on Sycamore Street and Edgerly Education Center on Cross Street. This meeting will take place at the Somerville Public Library, 79 Highland Ave., Central Hill. Also watchable by Zoom videoconferencing.
