This month Central Square got a Crumbl, the Utah-founded cookie chain that now boasts 950 locations and whose hallmark is a universal rotating weekly menu. I tried the cinnamon scone cookie, which came topped with a scoop of cinnamon buttercream. Like all Crumblโ€™s cookies, it was thick and chewy, almost cakelike. I was expecting a cinnamon-flavored cookie, but I was surprised to find it actually did taste like a cinnamon scone. The buttercream was decent, though I wish it had been a spread instead of a scoop. The cookie was also said to be โ€œsmothered with melted butter,โ€ which I was only barely able to taste; smothered wasnโ€™t really the right word. Is Crumbl worth the hype? I think my answer is sure, sort of: The cookie was good, if a little overwhelming, but I canโ€™t say it was the best I ever had.ย
