Large, stuffed cookies seem to be everywhere. Cambridge got franchises in 2024 of two of the big chains โ Crumbl and Chip City โ and I tried items from both for a Snack. Recently, I came across For Five Coffee Roasters, in the North Point neighborhoodโs Cambridge Crossing. Its 11-cookie menu has classic flavors such as sโmores as well as slightly more outlandish ones, including Fruity Pebbles. I went for the funfetti birthday cake, with birthday sprinkles and white chocolate, and in many ways, it was a great cookie: It was mostly chewy with crispy edges, with a melty white chocolate center and lots of sprinkles throughout. But the white chocolate with the cookie was a bit too much. Some bites were good; others were cloyingly sweet, and I felt the way I did after Crumbl and Chip City, which was somehow simultaneously overwhelmed and underwhelmed. Maybe I shouldโve known this would be the same.ย

You’re right: something as unsophisticated as this will always be a sugar bomb. Next time, try gingerbread.
