After trying a solid carnitas burrito from Los Paisanos and incredible chicken and beef tacos from Taqueria Montecristo, as well as a uniquely delicious bacon roll from Michette, chicken tamales from Taqueria Tapatio were next on the East Somerville Snack food crawl. The masa was perfectly steamed and ever so slightly tangy with that undeniable corn flavor, though the chicken filling left something to be desired. The chicken wasnโ€™t bad; it just didnโ€™t have much flavor, making for a pretty bland bite. I wanted more seasoning, more spice, more something to give it a bit of oomph. Perhaps I would have done better to choose a different filling or something else on a very long menu of burritos, tacos, quesadillas, tortas, pupusas and more. Taqueria Tapatio, with a warm interior and a bustling vibe, is inviting enough for me to return. I just wouldnโ€™t order the chicken tamale again.
