Council on Aging survey

Council on Aging, 11 a.m. Friday. The councilโ€™s board of directors holds a discussion on a community survey that will set priorities for senior services that have been paid for with federal and state money released as Covid-recovery aid โ€“ and will soon end. Services that help with housing, food insecurity and transportation could all be affected. This meeting is at the Holland Street Senior Center, 167 Holland St., in the Tufts neighborhood near Teele Square.


Latest on pest management plan

Rodent Issues Special Committee, 6 p.m. Monday. The committee discusses the 2024 plan to fight an explosion in the rat population; city councilors want environmentally safe and effective solutions to deal with it, they said at the Feb. 27 meeting, and the effort will likely have to be regional. West Broadway project pop-up

West Broadway reconstruction outreach pop-up, 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. City staff takes questions and feedback about the West Broadway reconstruction concept design, which will reconstruct sidewalks and repave Broadway between Clarendon Avenue and Alewife Brook Parkway (Route 16). The pop-up will be at North Street and Broadway.

Winter Hill public safety site

Somerville Redevelopment Authority, 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. The site of the former Cobble Hill Plaza shopping center โ€“ mainly thriving from 1982 to 2016 โ€“ is due to get new retail, commercial, residential and community uses, including a Public Safety Building with a fire station, police and fire headquarters and an emergency dispatch center. The authority meets to discuss the plan and overall Winter Hill Urban Renewal Plan. Watchable by Zoom videoconferencing. Preregistration is required.

Ward 2 neighborhood meeting

Neighborhood Meeting: 520 Columbia St. and 56 Webster Ave., 6 p.m. Tuesday. Discussion of a proposed master plan special permit for the redevelopment of a mixed-use development of two commercial buildings, one residential building, a neighborhood park and pocket plaza at 520 Columbia St. and 56 Webster Ave., Ward 2, between Union Square and Boynton Yards on land hosting Royal Hospitality Services โ€“ a commercial laundry facility that serves industries such as resorts, hotels, universities and fitness clubs. โ€˜Gilman Park,โ€™ Disability Pride

Somerville Commission for Persons With Disabilities Meeting, 7 p.m. Tuesday. The commission meets to discuss Homans Temporary Summer Placemaking โ€“ in which the organization CultureHouse creates a three-month โ€œoutdoor community spaceโ€ called Gilman Park on the empty Homans site in Gilman Square โ€“ and Disability Pride Month. The meeting will be at Somerville City Hall Annex, 50 Evergreen Ave., Winter Hill. Also watchable by Zoom videoconferencing.


Deciding the Armoryโ€™s future

Somerville Armory Community Meeting Series: The Armory Future, 6 p.m. Wednesday. This is the final meeting of the series for reshaping plans for The Armory, a property the city acquired as a community arts center. The city wants to hear from performing artists, residents, and community partners at the Community Baptist Church, 31 College Ave. Also watchable by Zoom videoconferencing.

Sewer separation briefing

Spring Hill sewer separation community meeting, 6 p.m. Wednesday. The city discusses progress made during the fall and winter and construction plan for the spring and summer in splitting sewage from water and preventing storm overflows. There will be Q&A and a chance for neighborhood feedback. Watchable by Zoom videoconferencing. Preregistration is required.

Water rates public hearing

City Councilโ€™s Committee on Equity, Gender, Seniors, Families and Vulnerable Populations, 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. This hearing covers how increases in water and sewer rates affect Somerville residents; a recent switch in technology caused a use-reporting problem that led to estimated bills that have since been corrected โ€“ but with accurate bills demanding as much as $25,000 from users to make up for the gap. This meeting will be at City Hall, 93 Highland Ave. Also watchable by Zoom videoconferencing.


Q&A on climate action plan

Climate Forward update: webinar and Q&A, 6 p.m. Thursday. The Office of Sustainability and Environment discusses Climate Forward, Somervilleโ€™s community climate action plan. Watchable by Zoom videoconferencing. Preregistration is required.
