Kick off the holiday weekend
Union Square Main Streets, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Indulge in quality, fresh produce from more than 50 local vendors for the Union Square Farmers Market, hosted in Union Square Plaza for the 20th year in a row.
Protect local pollinators
Final pollinator action plan presentation, 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday. Begun almost two years ago, the plan details how residents, business owners and students can protect Somerville’s insect population, responsible for maintaining the health of local ecosystems and urban greenery. At City Hall, 93 Highland Ave., Central Hill.
Plan Brickbottom’s future
Brickbottom neighborhood plan, 6 to 8 p.m. Monday. Give input on the development of Brickbottom, home to several businesses nestled between McGrath Highway and train lines. City staff have targeted the area for “extensive change” and aim to finish a development plan this summer, paving the way for street renovations and design changes to buildings. Engage with the process over a cup of coffee at Triangle Coffee Bar, 100 Chestnut St.
Tufts Street renovations
Tufts Street reconstruction project, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. July 10. An open house at the Glen Park Playground about upcoming improvements to Tufts Street, which is by train lines in East Somerville. Frequent visitors of the street – designated as a “neighborway” by Somerville’s 2023 Bicycle Network Plan – can expect commuter-friendly infrastructure changes such as speed humps in addition to a new wall mural.
Support and show disabled pride
Disability pride flag raising, 5 to 6 p.m. July 11. Show pride and support neighbors with disabilities by raising the disability pride flag outside City Hall, 93 Highland Ave., Central Hill.
