The Kennedy-Longfellow middle school recently got $25,000 as part of an effort to boost science, technology, engineering and mathematics learning — especially among lower-income students and others traditionally underrepresented in those fields.

Design Hive, the local fashion crafts fair, held what is likely to be its last Cambridge event Sunday. It was well-attended by dozens of vendors, a steady stream of holiday shoppers, fundraising eighth-graders and their parents and some entrepreneurs with brilliant and amusing ideas.

The buzz at Monday’s Web Innovators Group gathering went to thredup.com, a clothing exchange reminding people “You don’t wear 25 percent of the clothes in your closet — join thredUP and start exchanging them for some that you will!” But two other Web startups had their fans too.
