Kendall Square is hosting free ice skating for first responders and members of the military and law all day Tuesday.

Their guests and families are also welcome, said Christine Pulsifer, of the Kendall Square Corp., reminding members of those communities to “just make sure to bring an ID.”

“We greatly appreciate the effort and risk taken to keep us and our families safe every day by soldiers, firemen, policemen and EMTs. This is a night for them to relax and enjoy time with their friends and family, on us,” Pulsifer said.

Originally scheduled for just two hours Monday, the date and time changed to an essentially all-day affair, publicists said.

The event is from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Kendall Square Community Ice Rink, 300 Athenaeum St.
