Cambridge will hold its first Servicemembers and Veterans Appreciation Week from Nov. 6-11. Activities on select days of the week will include acupuncture, guided meditation, fitness and nutrition tips, health checkups, restorative therapy, social gatherings, food and refreshments. A Veterans Day Observance will be held the final day at Cambridge Cemetery, followed by a luncheon and town hall.

The schedule:

Buffet & Benefits from 2:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 6: The week kicks off with food, refreshments and a short presentation by fitness and nutrition specialists from Always Strong Fitness. Personalized one-on-one nutrition consultation will also be available. Held at the Veterans’ Life & Recreation Center on the second floor of 51 Inman St., Mid-Cambridge, in the Department of Veterans’ Services.

Art Demonstration & Entertainment from 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7: Kenneth Headley, a Cambridge veteran and local artist, will offer a demonstration of his wood-burning and painting technique. Paul Brymer, a Cambridge veteran and local artist, will offer insight into his unique photography techniques. Improv Asylum comedy troupe members will be on hand to perform and engage for a celebration of artistic expression and the power of storytelling. Held at the Veterans’ Life & Recreation Center on the second floor of 51 Inman St., Mid-Cambridge, in the Department of Veterans’ Services.

Guided Meditation & Acupuncture from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8: Members from Meditation as Medicine will provide guided mediation sessions for veterans. This group has veterans on staff and are uniquely experienced with navigating individuals with post-traumatic stress challenges through the meditation process. An acupuncturist from Community Acupuncture will be present to apply acupuncture and instruction to veteran attendees. Held at the Veterans’ Life & Recreation Center on the second floor of 51 Inman St., Mid-Cambridge, in the Department of Veterans’ Services.

Acupuncture & Health Checks from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9: Join an acupuncturist from Community Acupuncture. Flu shots and blood pressure checks will also be available. Held at the Veterans’ Life & Recreation Center on the second floor of 51 Inman St., Mid-Cambridge, in the Department of Veterans’ Services.

Social Meet-up from 2 to 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10: Veterans, their dependents and survivors are invited to gather as a community and enjoy one free, non-alcoholic beverage and 50 percent off appetizers at 730 Tavern, Kitchen & Patio, 730 Massachusetts Ave., Central Square.

Veterans’ Day Observance from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11

All Cambridge public libraries will be closed Nov. 10-11 in honor of Veterans Day. The Main Library will be open to attendees of the Town Hall.
