Sky Nockels is exceptional at getting weird with it, so it was only a matter of time until she – to invoke the song by Whodini – brought the freaks out at night. The comic, producer and gifted “Canva cartoonist” is part of a bright young class of area alt comics, and this is something of a class reunion at home in an appropriately late-hour setting. Billed as being for fans of “midnight movies, haunted houses and carnival rides,” the show stretches the bounds of what we’ve come to expect from club comedy with open anticapitalist critiques, occasionally crude musical comedy and frequent forays into the absurd. In addition to Nockels, you’ll get to marvel at comics such as Ari Dhar (Cracked Comedy Club), Great Falls Comedy Cup winner Nicholas Stubblefield and headliner Casey Crawford (“Jimmy Kimmel Live”). Stay up past your bedtime for comedy rewarding because it’s well outside the mainstream.
“Cult Classics with Host Sky Nockels” at 11 p.m. Friday at The Comedy Studio, 5 John F. Kennedy St., Harvard Square, Cambridge. $19.
