Cambridge police issued a statement at about 10:24 a.m. Monday saying Toshiaki Takenaka has been located in good health and taken to a local hospital for tests.
It released no other details about him, to respect his privacy.
Takenaka’s father, also Toshiaki Takenaka, was reached by phone at the hospital, which Cambridge Day is not disclosing for privacy reasons. The elder Takenaka said he didn’t know where his son had been found, but “physically he looks okay.”
He said his son was undergoing routine tests and family members were with him. The elder Takenaka said he felt “reborn” to be reunited with his son, who was last seen Tuesday night. A missing person alert was made public Friday.
The elder Takenaka said of the search “It was like falling into a black hole. You don’t know how to feel. Your brain can’t think.”
He said he felt better now. He expressed thanks “to everyone who has helped in any way, praying, looking for him, asking . . . we’re forever in your debt.”
Cambridge police also thanked those who shared its missing person posts or otherwise provided assistance.
