Imam Firmin Jr., pictured earlier this season, had 17 points and six rebounds to propel the Cambridge Rindge & Latin boys’ basketball team to its seventh straight win.

The Cambridge Rindge and Latin boys’ basketball team (8-2) staged a fourth-quarter comeback against Lincoln-Sudbury on Friday to extend its winning stream to seven games with a 45-39 victory. Down by eight after three quarters, the Falcons outscored the Warriors 18-4 in the final quarter. They were led by Imam Firmin Jr.’s 17 points and six rebounds. Morris Lichtenstein grabbed nine rebounds and chipped in four points. Itamar Fox had ten points.

Girls’ basketball: The girls’ basketball team (4-8) lost back-to-back squeakers, falling to New Heights Charter School 49-44 on Tuesday Jan. 20, and to Lincoln-Sudbury on Friday, 42-41. Against New Heights, Nada Elfathy led the way with 10 points, six rebounds, and five assists. Jenn Duverglas added eight points, and Jaida Hope and Jai Gomes had seven points apiece. In the tough loss to Lincoln-Sudbury, Elfathy scored 14 points, grabbed seven rebounds, and had four assists and three steals. Duverglas led the scoring with 15 points.

Boys’ track: The boys’ track team competed at the MSTCA State Coaches Invitational and the MSTCA Freshman-Sophomore Championship on Saturday. The Coaches Invitational featured more than 150 teams from across the state. Liam Eldridge finished seventh in the one-mile run with a time of 4:23.22. The 4×400 meter relay team of Winslow Lively, Eldridge, Leon Ibanez-Fraile, and Miel Henry finished 20th with a time of 3:51.09.

More than 120 teams participated at the MSTCA Freshman-Sophomore Championship. CRLS runners performed very well in the one-mile run. Thomas Dewitt finished second with a time of 4:31.21, Gael Berzin took 10th (4:38.85), and Henry Parker finished in 11th place (4:39.05).

Girls’ track: At the MSTCA State Coaches Invitational, Sophia Juanes Seto finished second in the two-mile run, clocking 10:54.67. Neva Hartman took fifth place in the 1,000-meter run in 3:02.66. In the 4×400 meter relay, the team of Leah Hogan, Mariye Demissie, Cassie DelVecchio, and Naomi Baldwin placed 16th with a time of 4:31.13.

At the MSTCA Freshman-Sophomore Championship, Yasmina Ghamloush finished 15th in the two-mile run with a time of 13:17.28.

Boys’ hockey: The boys’ hockey team (5-7-1) split its two games last week, defeating Rockport, 6-4, on Wednesday in a very physical back-and-forth game and falling to Dracut, 6-3 on Sunday. Against Rockport, Henrik Emerton had a hat trick and added two assists. Josh Pite had a goal and two assists, and Joel Perez scored twice. Matias Moore assisted on three goals, and Liam Molberger added two assists.

In the loss to Dracut,all the Falcons’ goals came late. Pite scored two of them and Matias Moore added the third. Emerton had a couple assists, and Henry Medford and Molberger had one assist each. Goaltender Owen Goldstein came in relief to make 31 saves.

Girls’ hockey: The girls’ hockey team (1-11) fell to Shawsheen, 7-1, on Wednesday and Central Catholic, 2-0, on Saturday. Caroline Rapp scored the lone goal for the Falcons against Shawsheen, assisted by Alicia Pite. The Falcons played competitively against Central Catholic and trailed 1-0 until the last few minutes of the game. Goaltender Max Cowen-Breen’s 24 saves kept them in the game.
