Draper, a Kendall Square engineering innovation company, teamed up with the Cambridge Fire Department for an annual Toys for Tots drive, continuing a 15-year tradition. The effort raised $17,444 for the national charitable program run by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve โ€“ $5,000 from the company, for a combined amount large enough to buy 16 bins of toys, the company said in a Dec. 14 email. โ€œIn the midst of a year like no other, our employees joined together to help Cambridge and the surrounding area with the most donations we have ever had for Toys for Tots,โ€ saidย Scott Lennox, an organizer for Draperโ€™s toy drive. Cambridge’s acting fire chief, Gerry Mahoney, said the city was โ€œfortunate to have such a dedicated and committed community partner in Draper.โ€
