Cambridge Health Alliance’s pediatrics practice at Cambridge Hospital has been recognized for being one of the top groups of pediatricians in the state for communication between patients and doctors, CHA announced Friday, The award was based on surveys of patients conducted by Massachusetts Health Quality Partners, a nonprofit group of providers, insurers and patients that works to improve patients’ experience of health care in the state.

The awards came from more than 30,000 responses to surveys last year of patients who are commercially insured, Massachusetts Health Quality Partners said. The group identifies top overall performers among adult practices and among pediatric practices in nine categories, including patient-provider communications.

The Alliance is a safety-net health care system with a large number of low-income patients who are covered by Medicaid or uninsured. The surveys went only to patients covered by commercial insurance.
