If your kids are football fanatics – and especially fans of The New England Patriots – you’ll want to get them to the Star Market, 699 Mount Auburn St., West Cambridge, between 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday for a photo opportunity with the team’s mascot, Pat the Patriot.

But there’s another reason to go: Eventually they can earn money to put into a Belmont Savings Bank account at the store.

The mascot will be appearing at the Belmont Savings branch inside the store, followed in coming months by at least three more such opportunities: Sept. 20, with Lowell Canaligator; Oct. 25, with Batman; and Nov. 22, with Thanksgiving Turkey.

Parents who complete a photo release form can take their own photos or ask photos taken by the bank to be emailed or printed. Printed photos can be picked up at the branch the next week.

Kids will also get a Picture Pals passport to collect stamps each month that they come back and take another photo. Collecting five stamps earns the holder $10 to be deposited into a Belmont Savings Bank account of their choice. With 10 stamps, kids can earn $25 for their account of choice.

“Belmont Savings is thrilled to be providing our customers with the free opportunity to pose with pop culture and local icons,” said Bob Mahoney, the bank’s president and chief executive, in a press release. “We pride ourselves in offering families from Waltham, Cambridge and Newton with both the chance to create an entertaining memory as well as begin to educate their kids about the importance of saving. It’s a win-win.”
