Over the years I have noticed unfortunate changes in Cambridge, with people feeling pushed out and unsupported. Many of the people I went to Cambridge Rindge and Latin School with have moved out of Cambridge because they can no longer afford to be here.

I met Sukia Akiba a few years ago, when she was just walking about The Port talking to youth about school, mental health, safe sex practices and financial literacy. It is so important to have people like Sukia in our community โ€“ someone who doesnโ€™t just talk about bettering Cambridge, but is out there doing it.

While itโ€™s sad more people from our generation cannot get involved โ€“ because they canโ€™t afford to live here โ€“ Sukia is committed to our youth, and to and bringing back affordable housing so there are more leaders like her. I fully support Sukia and applaud her efforts. Itโ€™s time for some new leadership in Cambridge.
