Somerville’s Hush Club is treating its audience to Lizzy’s Homemade Ice Cream after a Sunday show at The Sinclair.
The 525-person capacity at The Sinclair in Harvard Square is the same as at Boston’s Brighton Music Hall, where Hush Club performed in January. But “it feels like our biggest show because The Sinclair is the venue that we’ve all wanted to play since we were in college,” said Liz Kantor, who plays keyboards in Hush Club with guitarist Chris Haley and bassist Alasdair MacKenzie.
To celebrate the accomplishment, the band organized the ice cream trip they call “Lizzy’s After Dark” – which will be the first time Lizzy’s stays open late for an event, owner Phil Rizzuto said.
It’s “a good opportunity to connect with the customer base” and “support a local band,” Rizzuto said.
When the show ends at 52 Church St., audience members can walk the 220 feet to Lizzy’s at 29 Church St. and show their concert ticket to get a scoop of vanilla, chocolate, strawberry or mint chip or raspberry sorbet.
Hush Club began sharing meals with their audiences “because we posted a TikTok of us making pizza on our porch,” Haley said. As a result of the video, Hush Club was inspired to share homemade pizzas with about a dozen fans. To meet the growth in fans and in fans’ demand for pizza, “we decided to just make it part of the next show.”
As a “thank you so much for coming,” in January, Haley said, the band brought the audience to Graffiti Pizza after their Brighton Music Hall show.
At The Sinclair, the band will play indie music ranging from older songs to a “bunch of new,” unreleased music, Haley said. Photo Negative and guitarist Will Leet will warm up the crowd before Hush Club takes the stage.
“We’re very excited to debut the new Photo Negative,” said singer and guitarist Matty Hogan of the “high-energy indie rock” band formed at Boston College. The band will sing “a whole bunch of new music” at The Sinclair, including their first new song in two years, “By & By,” which came out Friday.
Hogan also called The Sinclair “a historic Boston venue that I’ve always wanted to play.” (The Sinclair opened in December 2012.)
Will Leet, lead guitarist for Sammy Rae & The Friends, will perform a half-hour set with a five-piece band featuring his original music and at least one Sammy Rae & The Friends song that he co-wrote.
Sammy Rae & the Friends played at The Sinclair in February 2020, and Leet “fondly thought” of that performance throughout the pandemic and said it is “such an honor to be back.”
Leet is “very excited” to join the audience at Lizzy’s. He “loves ice cream after a gig,” Leet said.
